The European Parliament [EP] will sit for a meeting today [Thursday] in Brussels to discuss the ongoing political impasse in Bangladesh.
The meeting will discuss a report to be submitted by
the European Union Parliamentary delegation, which recently visited Bangladesh, according to EP website.
The meeting will be held at Altiero Spinelli Building, office of the EP.
A three-member European Union Parliamentary delegation, led by Cristian Dan Preda, vice president of the human rights sub-committee of the EU parliament, visited Bangladesh from February 16 to February 20.
The team met the government, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, BNP chief Khaleda Zia, Human Rights organizations, business community, civil society, media and think tanks.
The EP team sought an immediate end to the growing violence in Bangladesh and echoed the international community and Bangladesh civil society’s call for solving the political crisis.
In follow-up to the EP resolution of September 2014, the delegation raised concerns regarding enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
