Envoys of three countries to Bangladesh separately presented their credentials to President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban here on Wednesday.
The resident envoys are: Nathalie Chuard of Switzerland, Lee Jang-Keun of South Korea and Rinchen Kuentsy of Bhutan.
Welcoming the envoys, the President said Bangladesh has an excellent bilateral relation, including commerce and investment sector, with the countries, President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.
The head of the state expressed hope that the bilateral relations with these countries would expand further during their assignments here in days to come.
Switzerland is the prime destination of Bangladeshi export goods, he mentioned, hoping that the investment as well as the commerce ties between Switzerland and Bangladesh would enhance in near future.
During the meeting with Bhutanese ambassador, Abdul Hamid said Bangladesh has been maintaining very good relation with Bhutan since the birth of Bangladesh as Bhutan is the first state recognised the newborn country soon after the 1971 War of Liberation.
The bilateral ties are getting more strong days by days with this country, he added.
Receiving the credentials of South Korean envoy, the President thanked the South Korean government for providing assistances to tackle the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. “Bangladesh has many investments in South Korea and the investment trend will increase in upcoming days,” Hamid hoped.
President Hamid called upon all multinational agencies to come forward so that all people, irrespective of rich and poor of the world, can avail the Coronvirus vaccine.
During the meetings, the ambassadors sought the President’s cooperation in discharging their duties in Bangladesh.
Secretaries concerned to the President and high officials of the foreign ministry were present.
Earlier, on their arrival at Bangabhaban, a smartly turned-out contingent of the horse-mounted President Guard Regiment (PGR) gave the envoys guards of honour.
