The Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry donated around Taka 50 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund to help the government fight the deadly coronavirus in the country.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin handed over a cheque for Taka 49,09,520 recently to Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) here, a ministry press release said.
Deputy Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Habibun Nahar and Secretary of the ministry Ziaul Hasan were, among others, present.
Taking part in the cheque hand-over ceremony through a videoconference from her official residence Ganabhaban, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked the officials concerned for providing the donation for fighting coronavirus.
The minister and the deputy minister of the ministry donated their one month basic salary to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund, while the officials and employees of different departments and agencies under the ministry donated their one-day salary.
Besides, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) on Wednesday donated Taka 30 lakh to the PM’s Relief and Welfare Fund.
Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) also donated Taka 50 lakh to the fund.
