The World Environment Day-2017 was observed through various programmes on Monday on Dhaka University (DU) campus in a befitting manner.
Marking the day, DU Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS) organized a debate competition on environment titled “Youth Climate Parliament” in association with SIP, Pariprekkhit and Save the Children, said a DU press release.
A total of six schools took part in the competition into two groups — Dhaka Team and Narayanganj Team. Dhaka team became champion in the competition while Narayanganj team became runner up.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed prizes of the competition among the winners at RC Mazumder auditorium on the campus.
Earlier, a rally was brought out from Aparajeya Bangla premises on Monday morning and paraded main streets of the campus.
