The Enu-Rupon Steel House Ltd, reputed sheet company, is counting losses as owners are in jail for long time.
The family members have demanded immediate release of Enamul Haque Enu and Repon Bhuiya, owners of the company, from jail to continue their business activities.
They made the demand at a press conference at Dhaka court Reporters Association auditorium on Monday.
In a written speech, Anamul Haque said that Enamul and Repon, owners of Enu-Rupon Steel House, are the first class sheet importers and traders in the capital.
They have been importing sheet through legal channel since 2011 and paid Value-Added Tax (VAT) worth TK 1,649,33,84,212 during the fiscal years of 2014 to 2019.
But, the law enforcing agencies have arrested them accusing involvement with illegal casino business on January 13, 2020.
Since then, they are in prison despite having no involvement with the casino business, Anamul, also uncle of them, claimed.
In absence of Enamul and Repon, their families are now passing through uncertainty as their business is now almost closed, he said.
Besides, they have become sick in the prison, Anamul said.
“Considering the situation, I demanded immediate release of them from jail,” he said.
