Entry of journos in courtroom needs for transparency of judiciary: CJ

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain on Wednesday advocated for ensuring the entrance of the journalists in the courtroom for transparency of the judiciary.
He said this after the inauguration of the newly reformed office of Law Reporters’ Forum (LRF) on the Supreme Court premises.
The LRF is using room no. 117 of the extended building of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) as its office for more than a decade. It was recently renovated with modern facilities.
About an experience at an international seminar, the Chief Justice said, “Journalism is very important now. I participated in a seminar in Ankara, capital of Turkey, where a topic was on ‘The entrance of the journalists in the courtroom for transparency of the judiciary.”
“So, it’s now internationally established that the entry of journalists into the courtroom and court premises will have to be ensured. This is needed for the transparency of the judiciary,” the Chief Justice added.
After inaugurating the LRF office by cutting ribbons, the Chief Justice unveiled the annual publication of the organization.
Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Advocate Zainul Abedin, Registrar General of the Supreme Court Dr Md Zakir Hossain, Additional Attorney General Mamtaz Uddin Fakir, Senior Advocate A M Amin Uddin and members of the LRF were also present on the occasion.
