Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor emphasized the need for ensuring women rights and proper education of them for the overall development of the nation.”Women will have to establish their own rights… They will have to start struggle to establish their own right from own houses. Moreover, Women should educate themselves for their betterment as well as country’s development,” Noor said this on Wednesday while addressing the inaugural function on an anti-violence campaign in Nilphamari. Women Communications Centre in association with Diakonia and Udayankur Seba Sangstha (USS) organised the event at Nilphamari Central Shaheed Minar Chattar.
“It is not possible to stop violence against women and protect their rights only by making laws…Men should change their mind set towards women in the society,” he added.
He also urged parents to treat their daughter and son equally and educate their girls so that they can have the opportunity to make them self-dependent.
Deputy Commissioner Nazia Shirin, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ashraf Hossain, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Abuzar Rahman, Vice Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad Arifa Sultana and Executive Director of the USS Alauddin Ali spoke on the occasion.
Later, the minister inaugurated the academic building of Ramganj College, built at a cost of Tk 70.50 lakh.
