Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said ensuring quality education is now the government’s priority.
“Now, ensuring quality education is the target of the government…apart from this, we’ve to build the new generation with honesty, moral values and patriotism,” he said this on Thursday while addressing a fresher reception and prize distribution ceremony of intermediate students of Milestone College at Uttara here.
The Education Minister said the country’s new generation should be built as ‘good human being’ as they will lead the country in the future. Noting that textbooks have been distributing free of cost among students since 2009, Nahid said around 35.43 crore textbooks will be distributed in 2018.
He said the children of the poor families are now coming to educational institutions as the government is distributing textbooks free of cost among them.
Chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, Prof M Mahabubur Rahman, Principal of Milestone College Prof Md Shahidul Islam and Advisor of the College Colonel (retd) Nurunnabi, among others, spoke on the occasion.
