World Autism Awareness Day observed: Ensuring proper attention to disabled stressed

Speakers at a discussion here yesterday called for ensuring proper attention to the autistic and physically disabled children and meeting their needs for their normal growth to make them worthy citizens.
They called upon all concerned to come forward with holistic approaches to flourish the inherent talents of autistic and disabled children through proper nurturing and providing them necessary opportunities to turn them into able human resources.
They were addressing the discussion organised in observance of the 8th World Autism Awareness Day- 2015 at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in the sub-Himalayan district town.
The district administration, Department of Social Service (DSS), Civil Surgeon Office and different organisations working with the disabled people jointly chalked out elaborate programmes in observance of the day.
The programmes also included colourful processions, distribution of leaflets, posters’ exhibitions, cultural functions, various competitions of the autistic and disabled children and prize giving ceremonies.
The autistic children and physically challenged people, government and non-government officials and employees, socio- cultural and voluntary organizations, professionals, human rights and women activists took part in the rally.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salah Uddin attended and addressed the rally as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shamsul Azam in the chair.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Speakers at a post-rally discussion here yesterday said the autistic and mentally retarded children could flourish their inherent talents if they were properly cared, nurtured and provided with necessary opportunities.
They put special emphasis on creating adequate awareness among the pregnant mothers and parents to substantially reduce the risk of autism and physical disability of newborn babies for building a healthier society.
They were addressing the discussion jointly organised by the district administration and Department of Social Service (DSS) in observance of the World Autism Awareness Day-2015 at Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the city.
Jhenidah Correspondent adds: The 8th World Autism Awareness Day was observed in Jhenidah district on Thursday with elaborate programmes. At the first a very colourful rally was brought to out from DC court premises led by DC. To mark the day, a discussion meeting was held at Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference room with DC Md. Shafiqul Islam as chief guest.
Presided over by Deputy Director (DD) of Social Welfare Officer Mominur Rahaman, the meeting was attended, among others, by Upazila nirbahi officer Julkar Nayon. Different social and humanitarian organisations, autistics people from various areas, local elites, students, teachers and journalists participated in the meeting.
