Experts at a rally have stressed ensuring hygienic sanitation facilities for teenage schoolgirls at secondary level educational institutions aiming to attain the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The authorities of secondary level schools, madrashas and other institutions should take the responsibility to implement the ‘Wash in School’ programme properly to ensure menstrual hygiene management for teenage female students.
Mohideb Jubo Samaj Kalyan Sangstha arranged the mothers’ rally on Chilapak High School ground in Taraganj upazila recently under the ‘Wash in School’ project, funded by WaterAid Bangladesh. Mothers of the students, members of school managing committees and Parents’-Teachers’ Assemblies, upazila level government officials, teachers and civil society members attended the rally.
Taraganj Upazila Secondary Education Officer Shahnaz Begum and Taraganj Upazila Family Planning Officer Hosne Ara, among others, spoke at the rally with Project Manager of the Wash in School project Shafikul Alam in the chair.
