Speakers at a function here yesterday underscored the need for ensuring a faster socio-economic development of backward char dwellers of the district through providing them with all types of existing facilities of the state.
They came up with the comments at a roundtable dialogue with a good number of journalists of the print and electronic media here at the training centre of Friendship, a reputed NGO, at Madnerpara under Phulchhari upazila here on Wednesday evening.
The organization arranged the function under its Good Governance Project funded by ERIKS Development Partner and Friendship Luxemburg on how to accelerate the development activities for the char people taking suggestions from the media men.
District coordinator Abdus Salam in his introductory speeches welcomed the journalists at the meeting and sought their whole hearted cooperation to make the ongoing development programmes for the char dwellers fruitful.
Moderated by team leader of the project Ahmed Toufiqur Rahman, the function was also addressed, among others, by journalists Gobinda Lal Das, Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman and Shamim-ul-Haque Shahin.
Project coordinator Amdadul Haque, assistant project manager Rezwanul Haque, project officer Nazmul Hossain and other staff of the project were present during the dialogue.
