The Prime Minister’s Political Advisor HT Imam stressed on ensuring healthcare service, good food, nutrition and accommodation to pregnant mother for reducing child mortality.
“Healthcare service, good food, nutrition and accommodation will reduce maternal mortality and child mortality,” he said this on Wednesday while speaking as the chief guest at a convention centre in the city.
He said the government successfully ensured healthcare service at door steps through community clinics across the country, adding, “We have social safety net programmes for common people.”
World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) organized the function “Global Week of Action-2014 & Health Budget Analysis Report Sharing” with its group director Stephen Halder in the chair.
The programme was also addressed, among others, by acting director national director of WVB Elidon Bardhi, advocacy director Chandan Z Gomes, Dr Rabiya Khatoon national professional officer of child health programme, World Health Organisation spoke on global of action sharing.
Dr M Abu Eusuf, Professor of Development Studies and Director of Centre on Budget and Policy, Dhaka University presented Health Budget Bangladesh report and highlighted some points on child health and child mortality.
HT Iamam shared authentic and dynamic information about national budget and its implementation process.
He said the needs of stakeholders at rural level should be counted in the formulating of the national budget and upazila health complex has to provide its demand before budgeting. He said the government successfully implemented people oriented programmes, which were included in the Awami League election manifesto in 2008.
“Bangladesh is marching ahead now,” the political advisor said.
