Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said that in the age of digital education children’s learning materials need to be made easy and enjoyable.
“Education should not always be exam-centric. It must build a child as a principled, responsible and sensitive human being, as the Father of the Nation dreamed,” she said this on the twenty first instant while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a stop-motion short animation called ‘Char Ronger Basa’.
The animation is a joint production of ‘Her Story Foundation’ and ‘Cholo Pori’, through a live streamed webinar.
The minister said that this stop motion animation has highlighted the four pillars of the Constitution using a medium, language and style suitable for children.
“The animation follows the story of Bangabandhu’s establishment as a leader and his philosophy. The values and political ideals that serve as the basis of the Constitution of Bangladesh”, Dipu Moni said.
This animation will educate the younger generation about the Constitution, she commented, added the release.
Deputy Minister of Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury thanked the production houses for producing the animation in the month of historic mourning, and for showing Bangabandhu’s basic works behind the constitution in a timely and child-friendly animation.
The animation highlights the four principles of Bangabandhu’s politics – democracy, socialism, secularism, and nationalism – with colorful metaphors and symbols suitable for children.
In the animation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is seen teaching a young girl to build a bird’s nest, said the release.
He also goes on to tell the story behind it, which influenced his ideology in planning a framework for the nation.
Former Minister for Cultural Affairs Asaduzzaman Noor, Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, former Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Dr Nasrin Ahmed and others were also present on the occasion.
The event was conducted by Jerin Mahmud Hossain, Founder and Executive Director of ‘Herstory Foundation’.
