SSC exams rescheduled: English papers now on Feb 13, 14

Staff Reporter :The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations, scheduled for today (Sunday) and tomorrow (Tuesday), have been shifted to next Friday (February13) and Saturday (February 14) due to 20-party’s 72-hour hartal.”We cannot put the lives of our children in danger. We decided to reschedule the examinations,” Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid made this announcement at a press briefing at Chittagong Circuit House on Saturday afternoon. English first paper examination supposed to be held on Sunday has been rescheduled for February 13 (Friday) from 9:00am to 12noon. On the other hand, English second paper examination scheduled for Tuesday will be held on February 14 (Saturday) 10:00am to 1pm. The minister also requested the BNP-led alliance to relax the hartal two hours before the exam starts and two hours after it ends.This is third time the government rescheduled this year’s SSC examinations dates because of the BNP led 20-party’s hartal and blockade. Earlier, the SSC examinations were scheduled to start on February 2. But, the examinations were rescheduled to February 6 due to the hartal. Later, the examinations scheduled for February 4 were shifted to February 7 as the 20-party alliance extended its previous 72-hour hartal till February 5.
