England Women’s Cricket team cruised into the final of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Cricket when they defeated South Africa Women’s Cricket team by nine wickets in the second semifinal at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
Chasing South Africa Women’s total of 101 off 19.1 overs, England Women romped home making 102 for the loss of one wicket when they had 19 balls to spare.
SJ Taylor and CM Edwards, the two openers of England made a solid start adding together 67 runs before CM Edwards was caught and bowled by S Luns.
Then SJ Taylor and HC Knight contributed 35 runs in the unbroken second wicket stand.
SL Taylor remained unbeaten with 44 off 45 balls with three fours and CM Edwards hit a worthy 36 from 40 balls featuring five boundaries.
HC Knight remained undefeated with 21. Her 16-ball knock was studded with three fours.
Earlier, CL Tryon of South Africa made an impressive 40. Her 31-ball innings was laced with two sixes and three fours.
M du Preez was the other notable scorer for South Africa who made 23 from 32 balls including two fours.
A Shrubsole and RL Grundy of England chipped in with two wickets each at the cost of 12 and 22 runs respectively while NR Sciver picked up one wicket for 19 runs.
A number of five batsmen of South Africa were the victims of run out.
A Shrubsole of England Women was adjudged the Player of the Match.
England Women will face Australia Women in the final on April 6.
