England Cricket Board (ECB) assured on Thursday that England National Cricket team will arrive in the city on September 30 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches and two Test matches against their counterpart Bangladesh National Cricket team.
After the terrorist attack in the city’s Gulshan on July 1, there was an uncertainty raised that England Cricket team may not come Bangladesh.
Then the ECB security delegation arrived in the city and inspected the venues and the other related areas.
The members of the ECB security delegation are: Director Operations of ECB John Carr, Security Advisor of ECB Reg Dickason and Chief Executive of PCA David Leatherdale.
The security delegation of ECB visited the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong and Zahur Ahmad Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. The security delegation of ECB inspected the security system of those venues. Later, the security delegation of ECB submitted the total security measurement report to ECB.
Then the key players of England Cricket team and the ECB security delegation discussed about all the matters related to their upcoming Bangladesh tour. Captain of England Test team Alastair Cook, Captain of England ODI team Eoin Morgan, Director of ECB Andrew Straus, Reg Dickason, David Leatherdale, John Carr were present at a meeting held on Thursday last.
After the meeting, Andrew Straus said, ” England team’s tour of Bangladesh will go through according to the plan. ECB will watch the total condition as per their planning.”
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nizamuddin Chowdhury on Friday morning said, “They would have to remain vigilant and continue our security standards over the next few weeks.”
England Cricket team will face Bangladesh in the first ODI on October 7 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur. Then England will meet Bangladesh in the second ODI on October 9 at the same venue.
Besides, England will play a one-dayer warm-up match against a Selected XI of Bangladesh on October 4 at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
England will take on Bangladesh in the third ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong on October 12.
Then England will play two two-dayer warm-up matches against a Selected XI of Bangladesh at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on October 14-15 and October 16-17.
England will face Bangladesh in the first Test, which begins on October 20 at the ZACS).
England will meet Bangladesh in the second Test, which starts on October 28 at the SBNCS).
England Cricket team will depart Dhaka for home on November2.
