Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said on Friday that engineers should dedicate themselves to applying appropriate technology for the development of Bangladesh.
The minister was speaking at the Alumni festival of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) at the University playground.
Inu, also an alumnus of the university, said that engineers and architects should play a critical role in the fight against militancy.
He also appreciated the role of engineers in the development of Bangladesh.
Noted personality Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed was the chief guest at the function. Dr Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, president of the alumni association, also spoke.
BUET Vice-Chancellor Dr Saiful Islam and expatriate engineers who had studied at this university were present among others.
