World Consumer Rights Day observed: Enforcement of consumers’ rights protection law stressed

Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) including DNCRP, Kishoreganj District Administration arranged a truck show, discussion, seminar and hand bill distribution marking the World Consumer Rights Day in district town and upazila headquarters on Sunday.
A discussion on protect to consumer rights was held at local Collectorate Conference Room on Sunday morning.
DC Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury, SP Md. Mashrukur Rahmn Khaled BPM (Bar), Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman, ADM Golam Mostafa were attended as chief and special guest while ADC (General) Abdullah-al-Masud presided over the discussion.
It was addressed among others by CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, DNCRP Assistant Director Ridoy Rongon Bonik, Ajker Desh Editor Kazi Shaheen Khan, Former Press Club President A.K. Nasim Khan, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, CAB Executive President Adv. Maya Bhowmic, its Secretary Monour Hossain Rony, District Mohila Awami League General Secretary and CAB leader Bilkis Begum, Assistant Prof Samiul Hoque Mollah, Chamber leader Md. Shajahan and SV Govt. Girls High School headmaster Shahanaz Kabir.
DC Md. Sarowar Murshed Chowdhury said the government would take initiative to thwart any digital fraudulence as part of its effort to ensure consumer rights. Following the growing popularity of e-commerce these would be digital fraudulence.
CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito said, referring to the government election manifesto in 2008, Consumer Rights Protection Law has been passed in 2009 and Food Safety Law 2013.
A colourfull truck show was brought out in the town.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Enforcement of the Consumers Rights Protection Law has become an urgent need for protecting public health from various non-communicable diseases.
Many people are being attacked with various deadly diseases like cancer,liver cirrhosis, hepatitis and cardiac and kidney ailments through consumption of adulterated foods. So, there is no way but to resist manufacturing, possessing and selling of contaminated foods.
The observation came at a seminar titled “Consumer Rights Protection Law- 2009” was held at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner Office in Rajshahi city on Sunday.
