Energy and Mineral Resources Division Secretary Abu Bakar Siddique died of cardiac arrest at Square Hospital in Dhaka early on Monday at the age of 58.
Abu Bakar, who was undergoing treatment at the hospital, breathed his last around 4:55am, his relatives confirmed.
He left behind his wife, two daughters and a host of
admirers to mourn his death. President Abdul Hamid expressed deep shock at the death of Abu Bakar. In a condolence message, Abdul Hamid prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed his sympathy to the bereaved family members.
He started his career as Assistant Commissioner in 1983 and belongs to the BCS (Administration) cadre 1982 special batch.Abu Bakar was born in an aristocratic Muslim family of Naria in Shariatpur on March 3, 1958.He served in different districts in different capacities.
On April 22, 2001, he was posted in Bangladesh Secretariat as senior assistant secretary and worked in different ministries, divisions and departments in the following years.
He joined the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications as its acting secretary on October 23, 2012 and finally promoted as the secretary in Energy and Mineral Resources Division on January 31, 2013.
