Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said, enemies in disguise are more active than the BNP-Jamaat group against the Awami League-led government.
“The disguised enemies in media and the civil society are more active against the government and spreading rumours to topple the government,” he said.
The AL general secretary said this while speaking at the concluding discussion session of the month-long mourning day programme organised by Bangladesh Awami Juba League at Mahanagar Natya Mancha in the city.
Juba League Chairman Omar Faroque Chowdhury presided over the discussion while its General Secretary Harun-or-Rashid, Presidium Members Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi and Anwarul Islam spoke on the occasion, among others.
Obaidul said, “A section of media is active to spread rumours against the ruling party Awami League and the government.”
Without mentioning the name of anybody, Quader said, “You were active to foil the trials of war criminals and wanted to save the war criminals. You also tried to establish that Ziaur Rahman gave the declaration of the war of independence of 1971.”
“Moreover, you tried to make the children’s just movement for safe road controversial,” he said.
Obaidul said, during the movement such people claimed that ‘genocide’ took place during the movement of the students, but actually none was killed.
Now it is clear that this heinous quarter possesses high international network, he said.
Referring to the demand of BNP leaders for holding the trial of the killing of August 21 grenade attack on Awami League rally in 2004, Quader said, it is nothing but cruel mockery as they were involved with the attack.
BNP is now interested to participate in the next general election as they think that they would be able to win in it, he said.
So, they were trying to gain power in the path of conspiracy, Quader said.
He called upon the leaders and activists of the Juba League to remain alert against the conspiracies.
