Mohammed Enayet Hossain was elected as president of the Association of Chess Players defeating WIM Rani Hamid in the election held recently.
Enayet secured 141 votes while his opponent Rani Hamid got 121 votes.
IM Abu Sufian Shakil was elected as general secretary with 181 votes. Masudur Rahman Mallick Dipu and M Asadujjaman were elected vice-presidents with 176 and 160 votes respectively.
The other office bearers are – Mohammad Amir Ali Rana and Mohammed Jakir Hossain Bhuiyan as joint secretaries with 130 and 105 votes respectively, Kazi Taherul Islam as treasurer with 180 votes, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag as organising secretary with 128 votes, M Masum Rahi as office secretary with 177 votes and Kazi Mahbub Afzal Ranjan as press and publicity secretary with 121 votes.
The elected executive members are – Mahtabuddin Ahmed Robin (178 votes), Farhadur Rahman Sabab (175 votes), Farjana Hossain Anne (159 votes), Shafiq Ahmed (153 votes), Badrul Amal (149 votes), Mohammad Shameem (140 votes) and Mahmuda Haque Chowdhry Moly (133 votes).
