Enam A. Chowdhury turns 80 today (June 29th 2017). He was born in Sylhet. His father was an emiment Civil Servant and great Sports Organizer Ghyasuddin Ahmed Chowdhury and mother Rafiqunnesa Khatun Chowdhury, says a press release.
His early education was in Shillong and subsequently he did his Honours in Economics, International Relations and Law from Dhaka University and Oxford University. In 1960 he joined the Civil Service of Pakistan and eventually of Bangladesh. He was Secretary in different Ministries including Planning, Shipping and External Economic Relations. He served as a Diplomat abroad and was Economic Minister in London, Secretary of the UN-ESCAP, Bangkok, and Vice President of Jeddah based Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
