Chittagong Bureau :Minister for Water Resources Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud said embankment beside Karnaphuli bank and slwitch gate will be built from Shah Amanat bridge to Kalurghat bridge in City . He also told that to make the port city free from waterlogging, switch gates should be constructed on estuary of chakataikhal and Moheskhal of Karnaphuli and installation of pump house beside the gate. He disclosed it while visiting the Balirhat, Bajraghona and Ghatkul area of Karnaphuli river on Friday. During his visit, local legislator and JP Secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, city Mayor AJM Nasiruddin, ward councilor of east Bakalia Harunur Rashid and President of Chittagong Press club Kalim Sarwar accompanied him. The minister also said to mitigate the waterlogging in the city specifically in Bakalia area, construction of embankment, switch gate and pump house is must and the illegal occupations from the bank of the river should be evicted. He said govt will take these projects in hand immediately aimed at resolving the waterlogging in the port city.
