The Department of English of Comilla University (CoU) organised a seminar on ELT titled “Technology in English Teaching-Learning” held on the university campus on Sunday. Ali Rezwan Talukdar, Chairman of the English Department, chaired the seminar.
Neelima Akhter, Assistant Professor of Dhaka University, was present as speaker. Dr GM Moniruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of CoU, all teachers and students of English Department were also present there.
In her speech, Neelima Akhter talked about modern technologies, different websites for learning English and applications tools that can perform online assessment and monitor student progress.
Students can gauge their performance by evaluating themselves on the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking – and then gather feedback so that they can improve on their weak areas. Technology accurately measures students’ progress in English, highlighting both their strengths and weaknesses.
