Construction of the elevated expressway, connecting the Dhaka airport with the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, will begin by the end of this month, Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader has said.
“After a prolonged uncertainty, the work of elevated expressway from Shahjalal International Airport to Kutubkhali on the Dhaka-Chittagong road will finally begin” he told a media briefing on Thursday.
The government had to sign a new deal with the construction company, Ital-Thai Development Corp Ltd in Dec last year as the project cost escalated due to a change in design and overall inflation.
The expressway will connect the Northern and Southern parts of the city, connecting the Shahjalal International Airport with Jatrabarhi’s Kutubkhali area via Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Moghbazar, Kamalapur areas.
