The government has decided to bring electronic media journalists and employees under the 9th wage board, said Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Thursday.
“The government is working on formation of the 9th wage board,” said Inu while speaking at a views-exchange meeting with leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers and Bangladesh Newspaper Workers’ Federation at the Secretariat. Earlier, the government sought nominations from the organisations concerned to form a nine-member committee to constitute the 9th wage board for journalists and employees of newspapers and news agencies. Following the government’s initiative, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists and Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers submitted the names of their representatives.
Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) and Bangladesh Newspaper Workers’ Federation will give the proposed names soon, he added.
