Electrocution leaves 3 dead in Bhairab

Three people died due to electrocution while moving a street lamp pole at Bhairab ‘s Railway Harijan Palli on Friday noon.
The deceased are Milan Lal Harijan (35), Kumar Dev Dibu Harijan (16) in Railway Harijan Palli and Mubarak (22)son of Tajul Islam in Taherpur upazila of Sunamganj.
Three more people were injured in this incident. They are businessman Abdullah Mia (35) , Sunny Roy (14) Harijan Palli and Sakal Roy (13), and admitted to Bhairab government hospital.
Local said, it is known that a road from the Bhairab’s old ferry ghat has been connected to Bhairab Bazar. Part of that road is railway.

The power management of that section is managed by the Railway Authority. Harijan Palli on one side of the road. Two years ago, the municipal authorities installed some solar panels on the road to provide street lights to the residents of Harijan Palli. At least half a hundred businessmen run various businesses in front of Harijan Palli.
Some of the traders started the work of removing the pole on Friday noon. The help of Harijan Palli youth was taken to remove the pole. But the traders did not take permission from the authorities before removing the pole. While moving the pole, six people were electrocuted by touching the 11,000 volt transmission line above.
Md. Golam Mostafa,OC in Bhairab Model Police Station conformed the matter. UNO Sadikur Rahman said, if anyone was negligent in this death, legal action will be taken into consideration.”
