Rafiqul Islam, Election Commissioner in a meeting with officials of law enforcing agencies, administration and election commission at Barishal Circuit House Conference Room assured that upcoming UZ elections in Barishal region would be free and fair on Wednesday.
He cautioned that punitive actions would be taken against officials and personals connected with election if any negligence of duty would be found.
About less presence of voter in election the EC said it is regretful that as some registered political parties like BNP not participating in election and so it became less competitive and active participation of voters became less than elections of previous times, the EC opined.
