Price hike: Onion importers being quizzed by CIID

Staff Reporter :Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) has started quizzing onion importers to investigate the reason of price hike and artificial crisis of the cooking element in the market.Some 10 importers of Hili and Chapainawabganj are being questioned at the CIID’s Kakrail office on Monday, the first day of the investigation, CIID official sources said. Apart form gleaning information on onion import, sell and hoarding, the customs officials also inquiring about making high profit and money laundering, they said....
