An elderly woman was killed in a road accident on Tuesday morning at Dayaganj intersection in the old city.
The victim was Khorsheda Begum, 55, wife of Abdur Rahman, a resident of 79/A/2, Distillery Road, Namapara under Gandaria Police Station.
A speeding passenger bus hit Khorsheda at Dayaganj crossing around 9:30 am while she was waiting for a bus to go to BIRDEM Hospital at Shahbagh to take regular treatment as she was a diabetic patient, police and hospital sources said.
She was taken to emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty physicians declared her dead around 10:30 am. A case was lodged.
