An elderly woman was killed by the attack of a wild elephant at Gorjania in Ramu Upazila of the district early Sunday.
The victim was identified as Golshana Khatun, 70, wife of Mohammad Kalu of Thimchchari area.
Gorjania Union Parishad member Abdul Jabbar said the woman came under attack of the wild elephant while she came to the yard of her house. She became seriously injured in the attack. She was rushed to local union health complex where doctor declared her dead. Officer-in-Charge of Gorjonia Police Faanri Kazi Arif Uddin confirmed the matter.
Acting Range Officer of Bankkhali Forest Department Touhid Elahi said he heard the news but did not know details of the incident.
