Police on Monday recovered the body of an elderly man from a pond at Pachondor village of Tanore upazila in Rajshahi.
The deceased was identified as Roish Uddin Onu, 65, son of late Shomir Uddin of Pachondor Uttorpara village in the upazila.
Locals said that Roish was the watchman of Toriqul Islam’s pond. He might have been killed by miscreants who had come to catch fish in the pond.
The legs and hands of the victim were tie-up with ropes. Already the body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, said Khairul Islam, officer in charge (OC) of Tanore police station.
