Police arrested three people for hiding an elderly man’s body after allegedly killing him at Rashid Building area under Sadarghat Thana on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Tayib Ali, 60 and the arrestees were identified as M Sohel, 20, Kohinur Begum, son and wife of Tayib Ali respectively, and his sister-in-law Zahanara Begum, 42.
Jahangir Alam, Assistant Police Commissioner (Kotwali Zone) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police confirmed the news.
He said, “Tayib Ali, who was a disabled person and used tortured his family members for money. On Friday night, he had an altercation with his son and wife. Suddenly Sohel hit him with a wood stick and Tayib fell down. To confirm the dead, Zahanara and Kohinur held his neck and Sohel stabbed him with a knife.” On Saturday midnight, Sohel along with his friends tried to dump the body in a drain in the area while the night guard resisted them.
Later the guard detained Sohel and informed the police who rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
