An elderly man was beaten to death allegedly by his nephew at Nityanandapur village under Bagharpara upazila in Jessore. The man died at Jessore Medical College Hospital on Friday night after being beaten on Thursday afternoon.
The dead was identified as Abdul Hamid Mollah, 70, resident of Nityanandapur village under Bagharpara upazila.
Rafiqul Islam, son of the dead who was also wounded in the attack told newsman that Jakir, son of his uncle Abul Hashem Mollah and his (Jakir’s) son Sumon attacked him and his father just after a reconciliation meeting at the area on Thursday afternoon. His father died at the hospital while undergoing treatment.
They came under terrorist attack as they demanded a plot of land that was bought about five months back, Rafiq added.
Dr. Rajib Hasan, attending physician of the hospital told that Abdul Hamid Mollah died at the hospital on Friday night.
Shamsur Rahman, chairman, Jamdia union council told newsmen that the two brothers were in loggerhead for last few years.
