Police have arrested an old businessman named Shah Alam Sheikh (58) on early Saturday from Balipara Gazi Market of Baliatali Union under Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district at around 1 am early Saturday (June 25, 2022) for attempting to violate a seven-year old girl.
Arrested Shah Alam was a native from Kotalipara of Gopalganj.
Father of the victimized child as plaintiff under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act accusing Shah Alam Sheikh lodged a case on Friday (June 24) night with Kalapara police station.
Kalapara Police Station OC Md Jasim said the arrested accused sent to jail after producing before the court on Saturday.
The investigation officer of the case, police sub-inspector Zahirul Islam said, on June 22, when the child was returning home after attending madrassa classes, she took shelter in roadside shop of Shah Alam at Gazi Market due to raining.
After that Shah Alam entertaining the child with biscuit at his restroom behind the shop, attempted to violate her.
