Prabhakar Tripura Rana, 24, was the youngest son among three sons and one daughter of Surendra Tripura, resident of Khagrapur area in Khagrachhari district Sadar. He was a fourth year student of Social Work Department of Government Bangla College in Dhaka.
A few days ago, he came from Dhaka to Khagrachhari. Coming home, he became a victim of murder. To not share the ancestral property, he was hit with a hammer on Tuesday night and was killed.
Police recovered the body the victim with tied-up hands and legs on Thursday noon from the hole of a septic tank newly dug behind Chiranjit Tripura’s house in Khagrapur area of Khagrachhari Sadar.
Shortly after the recovery of the body, police arrested deceased’s elder brother Chiranjit Tripura by suspecting him. Chiranjit Tripura has confessed about the murder to the police in the initial interrogation on Thursday night.
Khagrachhari Additional Superintendent of Police MM Salahuddin quoted Chiranjit’s confession and said, “By showing temptation of a job, Chiranjit brought Prabhakar Tripura to home from Dhaka”.
He also said, “Prabhakar Tripura was sleeping in Chiranjit Tripura’s house on Tuesday night. After sleeping, Chiranjit killed Prabhakar Tripura by hitting on the head and body parts with a hammer. After the murder, the body was thrown into a septic tank hole “.
