Elaborate programmes on National Mourning Day taken in dists

A fifteen days program of the mourning month August has already begun. On the occasion day long several programs were observed on Tuesday.
Leaders and the activists of grassroots’ level were put on “BLACK BADGE” by District Awamileague advisory member Major (Ret.) ATMA Halim. He also distributed cloths and food iteams among the destitute people of Saltha upazilla.
Later a discussion on the life and activities of Bangabandhu Sheik Mujibor Rahman was held at different educational institution.
Major (Ret.) ATMA Halim as chief guest said Bangabandhu has played an important role in establishing ISLAM in the country. Bangabandhu also established ISLAMIE FOUNDATION, he said.
Among others AL local leader Md. Jafar Molla, Hazi Sofikur Rahman Milon, Habibur Rahman Elahi and Anisur Rahman were speaks on tha occasion.
Sylhet Correspondent adds: Sylhet City and District Awami League (AL) has taken elaborate programmes to mark the National Mourning Day in a befitting manner.
According to the programme schedule, separate discussions will be held on life and work of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in different areas of the city and district.
Floral wreaths will be placed at portrait of Bangabandhu at 6 am and processions from central Shaheed Minar premises will be brought at 9 am on August 15.
The national flag and party flag will be kept at half mast while black flags will be hoisted at respective party offices.
Sylhet City and district AL and its associate bodies will place wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in the morning.
As part of the programme, leaders, workers and supporters of AL and its other associate bodies will pay homage to other martyrs of 1975, offer Fateha and munajat there on August 15.
Special prayers will be offered at all mosques in the city and district seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his departed family members.
BSS from Rangpur says:The district administration at a preparatory meeting here has chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the National Mourning Day- 2017 and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Architect of Independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman presided over the meeting held here on Monday.
Acting President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, city AL General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ruhul Amin, District Senior Information Officer Humayun Kobir, among others, addressed.
Freedom fighters, heads of different government departments and educational institutions, political leaders, representatives of socio-cultural and professional organisations and law enforcement agencies attended the meeting.
The programme will begin through placing wreaths at the Mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the city in the morning.
The programmes also include hoisting of the national flag at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous, private buildings and educational institutions after sunrise.
BSS from Gaibandha adds: The district administration has taken up elaborate programmes to observe the National Mourning Day and 42nd Martyrdom Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15 in the district with due respect.
Sources with the administration said the daylong programmes were adopted at a meeting here on Tuesday in presence of leaders of Bangladesh Awami League and its associate organizations, heads of educational institutions, representatives from socio-cultural organizations and journalists of the print and electronic media.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal presided over the meeting.
