Abul Hashem, an Ekushey Padak winner, veteran politician, educationist and former member of Ganaparishad, died on Friday morning at his own residence in the city’s Shaymoli area. He was 96.
Hashem, also former President of Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla (North) district, left behind one son, 10 daughters and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of noted social worker Abul Hashem.
In a condolence message, Quader, also Awami League’s General Secretary, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
