The month-long Ekushey Book Fair 2021 will not be held in February this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Bangla Academy Director General Habibullah Siraji made the disclosure on Sunday, reports Somoy TV.
It will be organised at any time later once the virus situation improves in the country, said the director general.
On 13 December last year, the Bangla Academy backed off from its previous decision to hold the fair virtually and agreed to organise it like previous years in the face of a strong protest by publishers.
Later publishers’ associations proposed the Bangla Academy to kick off the fair on 18 February.
