A two- week-long (13to 26) Amar Ekushey Book Fair began at Narsingdi Government College Premises on Saturday.
Secretary, Ministry of Education Mohammad Shorab Hossain inaugurated the Fair as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner ,Narsingdi Abu Hena Morshed Zaman in the chair.
Principal of Narsingdi Government College Shirajul Islam ,Police Super Narsingdi Amena Begum BPM, General Secretary of Bangladesh Mathmatics Olympiad Monir Hasan, Chairman Narsingdi Sadar Upazila Parishad Monzur Elahi was present in the function as special guest.
Deputy Director of Local Government Narsingdi and Additional Deputy Commissioner(Rev) Kamal Hossain delivered the welcome speech.
The chief guest said Amar Ekushey Book fair is the fair of our heart. The new generation readers should go through the workers of great literary figures of Bangli literature including our National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and Kabiguru Robindranath Tagore. He said the more you read the book the more you will be enriched.
He said there should be more books for the country’s future generation so that they should be built as competent enriched moral and social values
Terming the background of the 1952 language movement he paid respects to the language martyrs, founders of Bangle academy father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
He said the students are the future of the nation. He asked the teachers to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for ensuring quality education to the students.
At the end of the function the chief guest unveiled the cover of a book of poetry written by Dr Professor Dil Afroj Begum, mother of Deputy Commissioner,Narsingdi Abu Hena Morshed Zaman.
A total of 52 book stalls by different publishers, three from Dhaka as Kakoli ,Adron and Jagroty publishers were set up in the book fair.
