Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested a charge-sheeted accused in the Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque killing case in Feni and his two accomplices from Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Thursday afternoon.
The arrestees were identified as charge-sheeted accused Ruti Sohel, 25, and his associates Belal Hossain, 20, and Mohammad Asad, 18.
Public relations officer at Rab-7 ASP Saheda Sultana said a team of the elite force arrested the trio from the main gate of the CMCH.
Later, they started for Feni along with the arrestees, she said.
On May 20, Ekram, also president of Fulgazi upazila unit of Awami League in Feni, came under attack by miscreants in front of Bilasi Cinema Hall in the morning on his way to Fulgazi municipality office from his Masterpara residence in the district town.
The miscreants intercepted his microbus and fired shots on him from a very close range and then set fire to the vehicle.
They left the scene after confirming Ekram’s death on the spot. Rab sources said Ruti Sohel directly took part in the killing mission. He intercepted the vehicle of the upazila chairman. On August 28, police submitted charge sheet against 56 people in the murder case.
