A number of special teams of Department of National Consumers Rights Protection (DNCRP) fined city’s eight shops and restaurant owners Tk 1.13 lakh for sale of unhygienic foodstuffs.
The shops and restaurants are New Café de Taz Hotel and Restaurant and Al Madina Hotel at Khilgaon, B Baria Bakery at Jatrabari, Khalil Mangsho Bitan at Shahjahanpur, while Jannat Restaurant, Nazir Store and Madina Confectionary at Lalbagh.
Four mobile teams of the DNCRP conducted the drives in association with representatives from the district administration,
police, Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) and other relevant government agencies.
The mobile teams also distributed pamphlets among people for raising awareness about consumer rights.
