Eight killed in road crashes

At least eight persons, including four in Gazipur, were killed and 25 others injured in separate road crashes across the country on Saturday.
In Gazipur, at least four persons were killed and 12 others injured in separate road crashes in Sreepur upazila and Gazipur Sadar on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway on Saturday.
At Gazipur Sadar, two unidentified persons were killed and 10 others injured when a Mymensingh-bound passenger bus struck them in Rajendrapur area around 11:00am on Saturday.
Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station confirmed the news to the media and said that the two victims were the helper and supervisor of the bus, while the injured were passengers thereof.
At Sreepur, an unidentified pedestrian died on the spot when a passenger bus rammed him on the same highway at Gilaberaid in Sreepur upazila on Saturday morning, said Md Ayub Hossain, Sub-Inspector of Mawna Highway Police Station.
The accident occurred when the man was crossing the road, added the police official.
Another unidentified pedestrian, 70, was killed when a passenger bus ran over him while he was crossing the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Jainabazar area of Gazipur on Saturday morning, said Manjurul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of Mawna Highway Police Station, quoting locals.
In Jamalpur, at least two persons were killed in two separate road crashes in the district on Saturday.
At Jamalpur Sadar, a local trader named Atiyar Rahman Babu,35, was killed when a truck rammed him in Titpallah area on Saturday noon.
Meanwhile, a day labourer named Sakendar, 45, was killed when a truck hit him in Bonderpala area on Saturday afternoon. Abdul Latif, Inspector (investigation) of Narayonpur Police Station confirmed the matter to the media.
In Cummila, a university student was killed when a passenger bus struck an auto-rickshaw in Kabila area of Boringchang upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.
The victim identified as Sujan Ahmed, 22, was son of one one late Rahmat Ali from Rupondhi village.
