At least eight more persons were killed and several others critically injured in separate road crashes across the country on Wednesday.
In Cox’sbazar, three persons were killed when a covered van rammed an easy bike in Chakaria upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The accident took place at Harbang Inani Resort area on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway around 11:30 am.
The deceased have been identified as Abu Taher, 50. He was acting President of Awami League Harbang-4 Ward, and resident of Zamidarpara, and Taj Uddin, 32, son of Abdus Sattar of Muslim Para.
On local sources information, a Cox’s Bazar-bound covered van, bearing a sticker rammed into a Chakaria-bound easy bike. As a result, two of them died on the spot.
One of the injured succumbed to his injuries at Upazila Health Complex, according to Doctor Shuvan De.
Yasin Arafat, Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) of Chakaria Police Station told media, “Dead bodies were kept in Baniarchara Highway police outpost.”
In Chittagong, two persons were killed when two covered-vans collided with each other in Mirsharai upazila of Chittagong early Wednesday. One of the deceased was identified as Kabir Hossain, 40, driver of one of the vans. Another one named Gowtam, 18, sustained injuries.
The accident took place at Mastannagar under Jorarganj of the upazila, around 3:30am.
Agrabad Fire Service Leader Fazlul Huq confirmed the news to media.
In Munshiganj, a Bank Officer named Golam Mostafa (50) was killed when a truck struck him in Gazaria area of Munshiganj.
He was working as MLS of Dhaka Sonali Bank. The accident took place on Wednesday around 7:30 am on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Anarapura area.
Sub-Inspector of Bhaberchar Highway Police Outpost Rakib confirmed the news media.
In Feni, a pick-up Van driver named Nazrul Islam (30) was killed in collision with a bus in Feni’s Daganbhuiyan.
The accident took place in front of Daganbhuiyan Police Station on Wednesday. The deceased was a resident of Banskhali upazila of Chittagong.
Eyewitness and police said that a truck collided with a pickup van in front of Daganbhuiyan Police Station at Laxmipur where Nazrul Islam was killed on the spot.
In Nilphamari, A young man named Afzahar Rahman (25) was killed in a road accident in Nilphamari district.
The accident happened at Bagherpul area in Khalisha Chapani union on Tuesday night. Afzahar, son of Abul Kalam of Akashkuri village under Nauta union.
