Eight passengers were mugged after being doped allegedly by ‘Agyan Party’ members on Dhaka-Tangail Highway at Kharajora in Kaliakoir upazila early Thursday.
Dr Prabir Kumar, the resident medical officer of Kaliakoir Upazila Health Complex, said the fire service men with the help of locals brought the eight passengers to the hospital in unconscious condition around 5 am.
Three of the victims who regained consciousness were identified as Abdul Mannan, 55, son of Amir Ali, his brother Lutfur Rahman, 45 and
Mostafa, 40, son of Abdul Kuddus of Mirzapur upazila in Tangail.
Quoting Lutfur Rahman, the doctor said they were given foods mixed with sedatives by the mugger group while they were going to Kaliakoir from Tangail by a bus. Just after having the food, they lost sense.
After looting their valuables, they were dumped beside the highway, said the doctor.
