Eight die from COVID-19, 636 more detected in Bangladesh

Bangladesh on Saturday reported eight more deaths from Covid-19 while 636 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours across the country, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a briefing.
“With the new cases the death toll reached 214 and the total number of infected now stands at 13,770,” said Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, in the press briefing in Dhaka.
Dr. Sultana said that another 313 patients recovered from the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, raising the total to 2,414.
“A total of 5,247 samples were collected in the last 24 hours while 5,465 specimens were tested at 35 labs across the country. The tests included the specimens of the previous day,” Dr. Sultana said.
