Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest festival of Muslims, will be celebrated on Monday, if the Shawwal moon is sighted in the Bangladesh skies on Sunday (May 1).
If the moon is not sighted on Sunday, Monday will be the 30th day of the month of Ramadan. In that case, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Tuesday (May 3) in the country, reports UNB.
The National Moon Sighting Committee will hold a meeting on Sunday evening at the Islamic Foundation conference room at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to determine the date of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to a press release issued by the Islamic Foundation on Saturday, the meeting to be held on Sunday evening will be presided over by the National Moon Sighting Committee president and State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Huque Khan.
The meeting will review the information of the sightings of the moon in the month of Shawwal in the Arabic
year of 1443 and fix the date for the celebration of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
