The holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, has been celebrated in Rajshahi city with due fervour, joy, enthusiasm, gaiety and solemnity.
On the Wednesday’s morning, the Eid Day, streams of people rushed to the nearest eidgahs, mosques and open places to offer their Eid prayers braving the inclement weather.
Thousands of musallis at the end of Eid jamaats (congregations) offered special munajats seeking divine blessings and eternal peace of departed souls particularly their near and dear ones, continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the country as well as greater welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
The main Eid jamaat was held at Hazrat Shah Mukhdum ® Dargah Jame Mosque at 8 am and Muhtamim of Jameya Islamia Shahmukhdum Maulana Shahadat Ali led the prayer.
The second and third largest ones were held at Tikapara Eidgah and Shaheb Bazar Zero Point at 8am and 8:30 am respectively.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and senior officials of divisional and district levels including Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman and Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader offered their Eid prayers at the main Eid jamaat.
Besides, some other big Eid jamaats in the city were held at Hatemkha, Stadium Ground, Shalbagan, Alif Lam Meem Bhata Eidgah, Police Line Parade Ground, Tikapara Eidgah, Mohisbathan Eidgah math, Upashahar Eidgah Moidan, RUET campus and Rajshahi University campus.
In addition to the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, the district, upazila and police administrations took adequate security measures to celebrate the festival in a peaceful way.
Improved diets were served to the inmates of different hospitals, jails, Shishu Paribars, orphanages and vagrant welfare centres in all districts on the occasion.
Thousands of people, especially children, poured in and around the city’s parks, historic places and other recreation centres including the bank of the river Padma to enjoy the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Children, young boys and girls wearing colourful dresses gathered these places where small makeshift shops were set up to sell different homemade foods and toys.
Padma River bank adjacent to the Sahed Bazar area of the city has turned into an attractive tourist and recreational spot for the celebrating people after implementation of a beautification project by Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).
Under the project amusement spots, open stage, gallery, park, bridge, walkway and other need-based infrastructures were constructed at a cost of around Tk 4.22 crore.
New infrastructure and facilities are encouraging increased number of people to pass their amusement and leisure times with families and friends enjoying the beauty of the Padma.
Borokuthi River bank and Lalon Shah River Resort were also decorated with a new look to attract more visitors and facilitate the cultural organizations to arrange various programmes to attract the rushing people and other visitors.
Eid gatherings of children and cultural functions were also held at different areas in the city.
Similar reports of Eid celebrations were received here from the districts of Chapainawabganj, Natore, Naogaon, Bogra, Joypurhat, Sirajganj and Pabna in Rajshahi division.

Thousands of Musollis participated in the Eid-ul-Fitr congregations held at the Eidgahs, mosques, open places and grounds in the cities, district and upazila towns and rural areas amid favourable weather.
Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP), district police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13, Police Investigation Bureau (PIB) and other law enforcement agencies took ample steps to ensure peaceful holding of Eid congregations in festive atmosphere.
The important government buildings, establishments and mosques were illuminated and the main streets decorated with various colourful flags bearing inscriptions ‘Eid Mubarak’ giving charming looks all around in the cities and towns.

In Rangpur district, 242 Eid-ul-Fitr congregations were held at different at different Eidgahs, grounds, mosques and other places under jurisdictions of RpMP while more 1,020 congregations in all eight upazilas and three municipalities, officials said.
In Rangpur city, Rangpur City Corporation with assistance of the district and RpMP and other authorities arranged the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation at Central Collectorate Eidgah at 8:30 am with participation of over 40,000 people Muslim devotees.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib, General Secretary of district Awami League (AL) Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi, high officials and dignitaries participated in the main congregation.
Besides, leaders of different political parties, public representatives, academics, business community leaders, civil society members, professionals, journalists and elite of the city participated in the main congregation.
RpMP Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud participated in the Eid-ul-Fitr congregation held at RpMP Police Lines ground while Police Super Mizanur Rahman took part at the Eid congregation held at Police Lines ground in the city.
The biggest Eid-ul-Fitr congregation of the district was held at Taluk Habu Eidgah Maidan under Gangachara upazila with participation of over one-lakh Musollis including Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Parliament Alhaj Mashiur Rahman Ranga.

The bigger Eid congregations were held at Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque, Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Munshipara Eidgah, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e-Mosque, RCCI School and College ground, Kamal Kachhna Jam-e-Mosque, Mahiganj College Mosque, Jummapara Eidgah, Shalbon Mistripara Eidgah, Medical College ground, Pakar Matha Jam-e-Mosque, Bahar Kachhna Jam-e-Mosque, Damodarpur Baro Eidgah, Khasbag Angur Mian Jam-e-Mosque, Dhap Mohammadpur Jam-e-Mosque between 8 am and 9:30 am.
Outside the city, bigger Eid congregations were held at Badarganj Central Eidgah, Badarganj Chandamari Keramotia Jam-e Mosque, Pirgachha Karbala Eidgah, Pirgachha JN High School ground, Kawnia Central Eidgah, Mithapukur Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah and Pirganj Central Eidgah between 8:30 am and 10:30 am.
In addition, dozens of Eid-ul-Fitr congregations were held at local Eidgahs, mosques, open places and grounds in all eight upazilas and three municipalities as per locally fixed time schedules between 8am and 11 am, officials said.
The Musollis offered special munajats at all Eid congregations seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of departed souls of their nearer and dearer ones and continued peace and prosperity of the country, its people and Muslim Ummah and humanity as a whole.
Similar reports of celebrations of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr were received here from Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and districts under Rangpur division.
