As the holy Eid-UL-Fitr, one of the greatest religious festivals of the Muslims is getting nearer, Eid- marketing is gaining momentum in the district towns and a festive mood has been prevailing among the Muslims specially as they have started taking preparation for celebrating the Eid festival with due religious fervor and zeal. Barisal Correspondent reports: Shopping centers and markets of Barisal city have started experiencing large crowd as Eid sale is getting momentum in third week of Ramzan .

Rich are trying to buy the latest designs for their children from the air-conditioned and posh markets in the city, middle and low income group people are used to crowd in the hawkers market and make shift shops for their Eid shopping.
After visiting shopping malls and markets at Fazlul Huq Avenue, Sadar Road, Chawk Bazar, Bogura Road, Bazaar Road, Hemayetuddin Road, Fakirbari Road, Sagordi areas of the city found that women and youths choosing dresses and other items for Eid and sale getting momentum in last ten days of Ramzan.
Anisa Begum with two kids after watching the products, taking idea about price and knowing fashion trends, said that prices become 20-25 percent higher than previous year priced Tk 5,000-50,000,.
Customers after visiting different shops of the market said this year’s Eid shopping features included girls’ craze for shalwar-kamiz with copper works and mostly imported or smuggled from India, with the price ranging from taka 6,000 to 1, 20,000.
The price of cotton saris of different designs ranged Taka 1500-8,000 in the showrooms of Pride and Perfect brands and densely embroidered saris priced as 15, 000 – 50,000 at different shops.
Men go trendy for Punjabis to go to say Eid prayers in new and exclusive Punjabi and Paijama priced from Tk.4000 to 15000.
Boutique shops selling babies’ dresses priced taka 1400 -2000, boys’ Punjabi-Pajama 1000 – 2000, girls’ salwar-kamij 1500 -2500 and pant-tops 1000 – 1250.
Sheikh Abdur Rahim, former president of Barisal Chamber of Commerce and Industries and owner of exclusive dressing materials seller Moyuri departmental store, said they were faced a fall in sale till first 15 days of the Ramadan.
At the same time monsoon rain and extreme summer heat hampered the trading discipline in all the markets of the city.
Situation however improved and shoppers now rushed to Eid markets after started getting salaries and bonuses which would be continued till early morning of the Eid-day, he added.
Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj adds: As the Eid-ul-Fitr is approaching the Eid shopping has gained momentum in the district headquarters and 12 other upazilas of Kishoreganj with the presence of numerous customers at different shopping malls from morning to midnight everyday.
The rich and middle class customers are especially thronging a fig shopping markets to finish their Eid shopping, while people of low income groups are mainly gathering at roadside shops for the same purpose.
According to sources in many business bodies at the biggest markets shopping malls complexes and makeshift markets, Eid shopping has reached its peak now amid tight security measures and peaceful atmosphere. While talking to The New Nation, traders at different markets in Kishoreganj town said, selling of Eid items has marked all time high despite higher price this year following the further improvement in the economic condition and increase of income of all people.
Eid shoppers have been rushing to the Rathkhole, Isha Khan road, New Market, Poura market, B.Bara-Bazar, Terripulti, Gounanga bazar station road, Islamia market, Anowara Suger market, Bhuiyan shopping mall, Nirala tower. Nanshundha market, Khalauqe super market, Ramhan Plaza, Hajee Shamsuddin Shoppingmall, Khaleda Super market, Karri tower and Bata Bazar.
Additional Police Super Mostakim Hossein said that, security measures have been tightened . Law enforcement agencies like police and intelligence personal are patrolling the markets, shopping malls, bank, office, bus terminals and rail station.
