As the holy Eid-UL-Fitr, one of the greatest religious festivals of the Muslims is getting nearer, Eid- marketing is gaining momentum in the district towns and a festive mood has been prevailing among the Muslims specially as they have started taking preparation for celebrating the Eid festival with due religious fervor and zeal. Ahsanul Amin George from Khulna reports: With a little bit two weeks more left for the Eid-Ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religions festivals of the Muslims, Khulna city has been caught by Eid shopping fever with modern and traditional shopping malls bustling with shoppers from all strata.
In Khulna city, thousands of people are purchasing items of their won choice with huge enthusiasm despite spiral of prices of all kinds of clothes that the last year.
Shop owners are selling their commons giving discount and all attractive advertisement Khulna city dwellers are purchasing cloths to which are displayed in Indian TV serials. They are also buying homemade clothes.
Shop owners told the daily star that sales were showing an upward trend since the last week.
Khulna New market, Dukbanglow intersection Dukbanglow barobazar, Shahid Suhrawardi market, Jalil tower, safe and save meena Bazar, Daulatpur, and Khalishpur, market are crowded with people. Besides imitation jewelry fair has been going an in hotel Tiger garden.
Stock has been increased in khulna markets and sales men were also increased at different markets Salesman of different markets, foot paths makeshift sales centers are passing buys time from morning to mid-night as shopper of all ages are gathering. Their movement has created huge traffic congestion in the major shopping areas in the city.
Market sources said. the overall sale was much higher this year.
This correspondent found deployment of law enforcers at different points and market places and engagement of private security man at shopping malls by the authorities concerned have ultimately created a fool-proof security arrangement for business men as well as shoppers.
Yakub Ali, owner of abco, a grandeur clothes importer said, their selling started after shab-e-barat of course, rainfall obstructs he added. He said adding that They started to collect Eid clothes four months ago. If Chinese clothes did not come prices of clothes would have gone beyond reaches of common people, he added.
Sultan Ahmed, Whole seller of cloths of Khulna Barobazar said, kironmala cloth which is shopped in here Indian TV channel star Jalsha is serial, is most popular clash. This year kironmala dress is made for girls both babies and adolescents and also for aged women. Shaila sharmin, a college student came to purchase clothes for her brother and sisters said, varieties of clothes have come this year and prices also have been increased. Three paces are being sold at khulna new market at Tk. 3500 to Tk. 35000, she said Middle class people are gathering of footpaths and make shift shops. Some temporary shops were set of city’s Ferryghat, picture palace and ducklabanglow intersection. Ashraful Alam, owners of chandni shares house at Khulna new market said, the products particularly salwar-kameez for girls, shoes, series with embroidery and stone work, Punjabi and shirts produced by local and fashion houses are attracting the customers.
The traders and salesman at different markets, shopping malls and makeshift road side stalls had already gained momentum.
Narsingdi Correspondent adds : Eid shopping is gaining momentum in Narsingdi with the holy Eid-ul-Fitr drawing nearer.
People from all walks of life are rushing to the markets of the town to buy items of their choice for their nearest and dearest ones daily.
The shoppers are seen very busy from morning to midnight everyday selling their goods.  
The leading super markets, including Islam Plaza, Besal Shopping Center, Noin Tara Plaza, Index Plaza, HM Plaza and Sharif Mansion are decorated with special gates and banners and illuminated to draw the attention of buyers.
The most crowded markets of the town are Noin Tar Plaza, Index Plaza, Sharif Manson, Habib Market, Kalo Miha Market and Monsi Neaz Market where the people of the lower income group are seen very busy purchasing different things like saris, punjabis, children’s dresses, cosmetics and shoes.
Footpaths of the main roads as well as the alleys are also occupied by the hawkers selling various items ahead of the Eid festival.
Swapon Kumar Sarker, owner of Shibani, a cloth shop of the Station Road, said The demand for cotton saris is still high in the markets and it’s easy to sell saris, as their prices do not vary much. Maksuda Akter a housewife from Rashulpur, said I purchased a set of three piece dress at Tk 550 from Monsi Neaz Market, but the same piece is sold at defferent super market shops at Tk 600 to 700.
A good number of boutique shops were set up by woman entrepreneurs in residential areas of the town to sell their handmade products. But they could not yet be able to attract the general customers due to high prices.
Young boys in residential areas of the town have also set up stalls to sell view cards. Boys and girls are buying greeting cards at cheap prices from these stalls.
Dupchanchia (Bogra) Correspondent adds: Eid shopping is gaining momentum across the upazila as crowds are getting larger at the shopping malls and fashion houses in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district day by day. Talukder market, Jobeda shopping complex and Mausuper market are seen over crowded by visiting different customers .
The devotee Muslims cast start coming new market shopping malls and fashion houses for purchasing new dresses with friends and families to pick up Eid dresses, putting smile on the traders’ faces. Markets and shopping malls have been experiencing a heavy rush of customers who are on a buying spree ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the largest religious festivals of Muslims. It will be continue before Eid day across the district.
